The Renault Kwid’s new look for the 2027 model year (Renault/courtesy)The Brazil-built Renault Kwid has received a series of styling updates designed to bring it more closely in line with the brand’s other locally produced models, including the Kardian. The changes also further distinguish the Brazilian Kwid from its Indian counterpart and the versions sold elsewhere in Latin America.
Until last year, Renault’s Brazilian operation supplied the Kwid to markets across Latin America. However, following the arrival of new models in its Brazilian line-up, the automaker decided to scale back Kwid production to free up capacity for other vehicles.
Production of the Kwid subsequently began in Colombia, which now supplies markets including Mexico. So far, there is no indication that Renault plans to give the Colombian-built Kwid the same updates introduced in Brazil.
The Renault Kwid’s new look for the 2027 model year (Renault/courtesy)The 2027 Kwid features a redesigned front end, revised rear lights and significant changes to the dashboard, including a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment touchscreen. The latter will not be offered on the entry-level version. Prices start at around US$14,000.
The biggest update inside is the addition of screens to a cabin that was previously entirely analogue. A digital instrument cluster is now standard across the range, while the infotainment system is included from the mid-range version upwards.
The engine remains unchanged. It is the same 1.0-litre unit used by the model for the past decade, producing 71 hp and 10.1 kgf-m of torque.
The Kwid was originally developed as a Renault India project involving Romanian brand Dacia. Following the changes introduced in Brazil, the locally built model now differs from both the Indian and Romanian versions. An electric version previously sold in Brazil and imported from China was discontinued this year.
